Endo Vascular Techniques
Endovenous laser
Available in the UK, Endovenous laser therapy (EVLT) delivers laser energy through a small puncture in the leg, usually around the knee, to close the affected vein. EVLT is suitable for main superficial veins (saphenous veins) and is performed under local anaesthetic.
EVLT is performed using ultrasound guidance and a local anaesthetic, and allows a less invasive approach to the treatment of varicose veins. The procedure can be undertaken in less than an hour and patients are encouraged to return to their daily routine as soon as possible afterwards. Any post-operative discomfort can usually be remedied with painkillers.
